Canterbury Under 18 B Girls Claim National Title - Canterbury Under 18 B Girls won the final of the Hockey New Zealand Under 18 Girls Championship tournament in Hamilton, defeating Auckaland in a close final.
Canterbury's most successful team this past week the B Girls, won all of their matches in claiming the national Championship title. The semi final score at full-time was 2-all with Canterbury's goals to Libby Collings and Kodie Kutyn. Then in strokes, Canterbury goalkeeper Mel Harris made two great saves, and a third North Harbour stroke hit the post, as Canterbury comfortably won the stroke competition 3-1, with two Canterbury strokes untaken.
The Final against Auckland B was a very tight affair, with Libby Collings' goal early in the second half all that separated the two teams. Congratulations to the players on their success, and to team management - Mandie Godliman and Shirley Haig (coaches) and Hayley Moodie (manager).

Sports Coaching Solutions team conquer the Graperide again this year - April 2011
February 22nd brought an abrupt end to the official cricket season in Christchurch. But it could not stop Coaching Solutions from delivering coaching for hundreds of children each week for the remainder of the season. Coaching during the week and games on Saturday still went ahead but in an informal way, even opening its doors to anyone from other clubs. Those that wanted to participate just turned up as usual to Elmwood Park. Thanks to all the Parents and Volunteers that still made this possible. I know it was greatly received by many children.

The Canterbury Magicians have won the Action Cup, women's one-day championship by beating Wellington Blaze by 27 runs in Christchurch. And the following week made light work of Wellington Blaze to stroll to a commanding win in the Action Twenty20 cricket final at the Wellington Basin.

Dean has recently played for the T20 Black Caps team while Emma has played for the New Zealand White Ferns.
Congratulations to both.

New Zealand commented: "sincerely thank you for your considerable assistance and cooperation in staging the warm up matches at your venue during the past week. We have received very good feedback about the quality of the venues for the warm up matches and you have paid a huge part putting in the time required to get your match wickets to the high standard which allowed the players to exhibit their skills . Given Tuesdays wet weather it was a testament to your work and knowledge of your block which saw all the teams get a good game of cricket despite the loss of some time."
